How to Help

Company Team Build

Why Team Build?

Gather your co-workers, roll up your sleeves and spend a rewarding day of service with Habitat! Habitat’s Team Build Program offers organizations the opportunity to improve their communication, strengthen morale and encourage teamwork all while building the strength and stability for a family in need.

Organizations contribute financially in addition to providing the volunteer support. Group sizes can be between 10 – 12 volunteers and we ask for a donation of $1,000. Have a unique group size? Let us know and we’ll work to customize a day of service for you! Your investment is crucial in our mission of serving more families through affordable, stable homeownership.

Construction Opportunities

Team Build opportunities, on a construction site, are offered Wednesdays – Fridays, depending on availability. The workday is from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm and will be led by our Core Construction Crew. We’ll provide the know-how, tools and materials needed for your group’s day of service.

Volunteers help in almost all aspects of building or rehabbing a home. Based on your scheduled build day, volunteers could be:

  • Building walls
  • Raising the roof
  • Installing siding
  • Hanging drywall
  • Painting the interior or exterior
  • And much more!

We’re grateful for our Team Build partners.

Together, we’re revitalizing neighborhoods and building a stronger community; all through the power of homeownership.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many volunteers participate in a Team Build?

Team builds are for groups of 10-12 volunteers. Have a unique group size? Let us know and we’ll work to customize a day of service for you!

  • Why is there a financial donation with a Team Build?

Team Build donations help cover the cost of materials and leadership needed for the day. Your support has double the impact for Habitat homes – physically volunteering and financially contributing. It’s through your partnership that we are able to continue to provide safe, stable homes for local families in need.

  • What are the benefits of a Team Build?

Every Team Build day is a rewarding experience! Not only will your team be improving your communication and collaborative skills, but you’ll also be helping build a home in partnership with a deserving family.

  • When can I schedule a Team Build event?

Team Build event days can be scheduled Wednesdays through Fridays, depending on availability. Most Team Build events are one-day and last from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

  • Can I break my event day into shifts?

We typically do not break our days into shifts on the jobsite. Groups can set up a full day or half-day experience.

  • What if my company wants to do more than a Team Build event?

That’s great! You can get started today by visiting our Community Partner Page. We look forward to talking with you more in regards to making a larger impact.

  • What do I need to bring to my volunteer day?

For a day of service, volunteers are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, hat, sunscreen and bug spray. Habitat supplies the water and all of the tools and materials needed for the day. If a volunteer wants to bring his or her own tools, please be sure the items are properly labeled.

  • Is lunch provided?

Lunch is not provided. Volunteers need to bring a lunch to site, unless told otherwise. Lunch breaks onsite are typically 30 minutes.

  • What do I need to wear for my volunteer day?

We ask that volunteers dress for the weather and wear clothes that can get dirty. All volunteers MUST wear closed-toe shoes.

  • What is Habitat’s weather policy?

Since we build year-round, our Core Crew Leaders will work with Habitat staff to determine if it is safe to work in extreme temperatures. We ask that volunteers show up to the work sites, even if it is raining, unless they have heard from Habitat staff stating otherwise. Weather cancellations normally happen on the day of the event and onsite. Volunteers will work in light rain but do not complete exterior work in heavy rain or thunderstorms.
