What's Springing Forth at Habitat?
UAW Veteran Build
The Groundbreaking on April 19 was well attended despite the wet afternoon. Senator Joe Donnelly, Mayor Greg Goodnight, County Commissioners, Brad Bray, Tyler Moore, and Paul Wyman, Habitat for Humanity of Indiana State Director, Gina Leckron, as well as representatives from the UAW Local 685 and Region 2B, plus additional sponsors were all on hand as we kicked off this build that will take place the last week of June. It was noted that the most important person in attendance was our partner family Johnathan Stewart, and he shared from his heart how grateful he was for the community support of this project that will becomes his home.
Due to the weather, we were unable to lay block last Saturday for the Women Build Project at 5506 Council Ring Boulevard. Thus, we will be laying block on May 2nd. Framing Day will move to May 7th. Lowe's Heroes will be out on May 5th to lay the floor pack. Thanks in advance to all the Women Build teams for their flexibility and understanding. We currently have over 160 women signed up to participate throughout the summer. But we still need more financial support to meet our goal of a fully funded house. This Mother’s Day please consider giving the moms in your life the gift of helping a single mom provide a new home for her 3 daughters. Donations can be made via PayPal (edited: we no longer use Paypal, Donate here!
) or send a check to HFH Kokomo; PO Box 158; Kokomo, IN 46903-0158. If you provide the name and address of the mother you are honoring, then we will send a note of acknowledgement to them on your behalf.
There are still openings for women who would like to participate in this year's Women Build. Go to our Women Build page
to learn more & to join a team!

Grass is growing and we need some volunteers to help mow some empty lots that we own all around town. If you use your own lawnmower, then we'll pay for the gas. We also have a few lawnmowers that we can provide for this. Please call 452-2185 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
if you're willing and able to serve.
